Well that’s the end of playscheme for another year and what a playscheme it has been! We have had many great workshops such as gymnastics, pond dipping, crafts, beastie hunts, games, campfires, water fights, drumming, bouncy castles, bath bombs, dancing, and exotic animals!
We have had some very special visitors come along and support the work we do. Many thanks to The Lord Lieutenant of Ross & Cromarty, Joanie Whiteford who joined us for two days and was a welcome addition. The World’s Strongest Man, Tom "The Albatross" Stoltman who the kids loved and asked a million questions. Alan Banner from DNA Dance who put them through their paces with his great dance workshops. Janet McDonald with her box of ferrets which the kids adored. Clair Nichols and staff from Youth Highland who have been capturing the thoughts of the youngsters and finally many thanks to our surprise special visitor yesterday, you know who you are, thank you!
We have had over 90 youngsters a day supported and led by 24 young leaders. The majority of our youth workers were “pinged” early on and and were in isolation so our priority was to keep our youngsters safe so with regular lateral flow tests, our young leaders stepped up to the plate and with our youngsters in bubbles of Monkeys, Lions, Tigers and Elephants we were able to keep our playscheme safe. Each day we were met with smiling faces and youngsters up for anything which gave us such a boost when we were almost on our knees by the end of the three weeks. We also started some of our trips with In Your Element so the travelling logistics have been a nightmare but the youngsters have loved canoeing and gorge walking.
We would just like to thank you, the parents, for being so supportive and kind to The Place and for the many of you who very kindly donated to our charity, we really appreciate it. Thanks must also go to the young leaders who have all been amazing and put up with a lot of demands on them. Our youth work team as always gave 100%. More importantly thanks to the youngsters themselves who all behaved impeccably and were such a pleasure to have.
Thanks to our cook Jac who provided 740 hot meals a week which was just amazing. We consumed over 2500 bottles of water and almost drank Alness dry! The excitement we had when we got water turned on to The Field was unbelievable and that was a huge help in the delivery of the playscheme during our brilliant weather.
Massive thanks also to all our providers:
Wildcat Bushcraft In Your Element - Scotland SEAR Fyrish Gymnastics Club DNA Dance Farmer Jones (and the amazing Sharon) Drumfun Martin Hynd Heidrun Cosmetics Trapeze Entertainment
Thanks to those that helped us, Lorna Macdonald at Taste Buds, Fay Demir at Shake It, Jonathon Brown, Rosie Milne, The Clay Studio, Gordon Robertson and John Douglas. Finally can we thank the funders who without their support we would not be able to provide these activities.
